#WWPDD Advice Column: Recording Your Virginity, or Loss There of……

vGirl asks: Donna, I want to sell my virginity by recording it with a porn company. Any advice?

Dear vGirl,

What is a virginity? How do you know if you have one?

I jest, but seriously. I think the idea of virginity is a little antiquated….. I suppose it is meant to signify the “first time” one has sex, but I think it paints a much more cut and dry image of what sex is than I am comfortable with….

I mean, I can beat around the bush for awhile, but lez be honest. Virginity is meant to refer to the first time a penis goes into a vagina, right? If that’s all it is, I’m sorry, but, who cares?!?? Unless you care, and that first time is special and meaningful to you. Then I would care too, but not because you “lost your virginity,” but because something special and meaningful happened to you. You catch my drift? I don’t think it is the physical act that is important, it’s the meaning that you ascribe to it.

As for selling your virginity, I think there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, be safe. Make sure the company is reputable and that you are comfortable with everyone involved. Second, consider the emotional implications. This may be a purely business transaction for you, or it may be loaded with meaning. Either is valid, just know yourself. Third, once it’s on film it’s on film forever. Are you comfortable with that? And finally, make sure you’re doing it for yourself and not to please someone else.

xoxo
