I’ve always seen the porn that I make as more than just jerk off material. To me the work that I do is about creating a space for people to explore their fantasies and let go of their shame. I know that many people feel stifled by shame around their bodies and their sexual desire, and if I only helped one person feel a little more ok with who they are, and a little less freakish and alone because of what they desire then I would be happy. But I hope to reach a lot more people than that.
I think it’s amazing that James Franco did a documentary about Kink, and isn’t afraid to be associated with a BDSM porn company. I hope that the film can humanize us “crazy pornographers” for people who don’t fully understand what we do or why we do it.
From the very little I know of James, he doesn’t seem afraid to push the boundaries; of art, of film, of sex, or of Hollywood, and I respect that kind of fearlessness above all else.
